Honors Program



The Honors Program provides an alternative academic curriculum for highly motivated students. This advanced curriculum helps prepare students for study in graduate and professional schools upon graduation. The mission of the Honors Program is to inspire students to become leaders within both their professions and communities.

Admission Criteria

Admission to the Honors Program requires

  • High School GPA of 3.5 and above
  • Letters of Recommendation
  • SAT score of 1000 or better or ACT score of 23 or better

Retention in Honors Program

Students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better to continue in the Honors Program. If the GPA falls below 3.0, the student will be allowed one semester to raise the GPA to the required level.

Honors Program Curriculum

Students in the Honors Program curriculum take courses which replace certain core courses of the general education curriculum. Honors students will take Honors Seminar I & II in lieu of education and life seminar requirement; Honors Mathematics I and II in lieu of core mathematics requirement; Honors English I and II in lieu of core English requirements and Reading 101 ; Insight I and II in lieu of core science requirements; Technology (honors) in lieu of Introduction to Computers; African American History I and II.
