Core Curriculum


The purpose of the core curriculum is to expose students to a common body of knowledge which lays the foundation for upper level courses. The core curriculum is also designed to ensure that students have some exposure to the content and methods of inquiry in the major subject fields in a liberal arts education. Substitutions: Courses at the same or higher level that have similar learning outcomes may be substituted with the permission of the chair and dean.

Students are exempt from taking Orientation to University Life (FMU101) if they are (a) 25 years or older; (b) hold an associate of arts or science degree from a regionally accredited community University; or (c) are transfer students and have taken an equivalent course at a regionally accredited college or university.
